This job didn’t involve any of the normal hand tools but still represented a challenge. This lady had cleaners come into her house. While dusting the thermostat they somehow managed to dial up the temperature and then set the PIN code without knowing what number they had set. The thermostat was consequently locked and the the lady couldn’t turn the temperature setting down. It was mid July. Removing the thermostat from the wall took just a second. However after some research, it became clear the device had to be connected to a computer, reset and a new configuration file downloaded from the manufacture and uploaded into the thermostat. Then it was just a matter of attaching it back onto the base plate, reconnect the thermostat to the home WiFi network, reset the heating and hot water schedules, set a few other config settings and everything was back working normally.
