Clearing gutters seems to be a common request recently. Although there is fancy kit available which i may invest in at some point, basically a hoover operated from the ground, I do this task currently the old fashioned way up a ladder with a bucket and trowel. You find all sorts in folks gutters but today was definitely the most established plant, growing in the downpipe, that I’ve ever come across. This was a semi detached home with a shared downpipe at the rear of the property. The downpipe was completely blocked so whenever a good rainstorm came along the water simply flooded and overflowed the gutter for both addresses. The downpipe plant has now been removed and probably re-potted in the homeowners garden. Ironically, given the long hot spell we’re enjoying, it needed a good water!!!
